Congress Passes Short-Term Funding Bill, Putting DOD’s $1.5T Budget Ask on Hold

The Pentagon will spend the first few months of fiscal 2027 without the $1.5 trillion budget it has been seeking, after Congress passed a continuing resolution Sept. 1 that will keep the government open but its spending levels frozen through Dec. 11.
